New BBQ Trailer for 620

Share

Chew Chew BBQ, a new food trailer serving up slow-smoked BBQ meats, homemade sides and desserts is now open for business at the South Side Eatery located on the Lakeway/Bee Cave city line.

Co-owners Samuel Corbett and Jamison Toomey join three other food trucks already situated at the location. Chew Chew BBQ offers onsite window service, door-to-door delivery and catering for events such as weddings, company outings or family reunions.

The fare at Chew Chew BBQ consists of a variety of slow-smoked meats including brisket, pork ribs, sausage, ham, turkey and chicken. Potato salad, sweet slaw, BBQ beans and BBQ stuffed potato along with banana pudding and peach cobbler round out the menu. Customers can tailor their dining experience with choices such as family packs, a-la-carte meats or at-home delivery.

Co-owner and head chef, Sam Corbett, has owned several eating establishments in the Austin area over the past few decades and considers himself a seasoned Texas BBQ connoisseur. “I have been cooking BBQ for as long as I can remember and I firmly believe that patience and a good rub are the key ingredients for great BBQ.” says Corbett. “Jamison and I are both very passionate about this business.”

Co-owner, Jamison Toomey, believes Chew Chew BBQ will be a good fit for the community. “We will be doing something a little differently than the others by providing delivery to homes and businesses in the surrounding area. We’ve got something to satisfy every BBQ lover.”

Chew Chew BBQ officially opened its window on June 20. The trailer is open every Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 11:00 am and 7:30 pm and on Sunday from 11:00 am through 4:00 pm.

Awesome! So glad to see this corner get more food trucks. Wishing this whole park could get more local support. Thank you for including hours of business.

Tried it and was pretty weak. What's it going to take to get good BBQ in Bee Cave?

You will have to drive out west on Hwy 71 and go to It's All Good BBQ or RO's BBQ. Both worth the drive.....

Really? I've been there twice & thought it was pretty darned good. Miles ahead of anything else in the area. I know I'll be back. The brisket alone is worth the trip. Happy to see some great BQ in Bee Cave.

Negative - that is Bee Cave. Don't expect comments to be supportive. I will support these businesses and give them a chance.

I hear you but I am going to support businesses that invest in the community with a bit more than a trailer. To me a trailer just screams a lack of long term commitment, more than it screams a lack of start up capital. I'll buy firewood from someone sitting on the side of the road with a trailer, but not BBQ.

My guess is that if someone doesn't get the food truck culture, they don't understand what made Austin interesting way back when. Oh well, I'm sure another Bank will go into that area soon enough.

It's Bee Cave not Austin. Trailers just parked off the road are awful. If the city wants that designate an area designed for that with the proper amenities and aesthetics.

Thankfully the "city" has no say in this area.

Tried to go today(Sunday) but it was already closed by 2:00. Maybe that means they sold out?

Could also mean they got tired of waiting for customers.

We at Chew Chew BBQ would like to apologize to the person who had a less than favorable experience as well as to the commenter who showed up on Sunday to find us closed. We sincerely hope you’ll both come back and give us another chance.

As for our commitment to the community, we take that very seriously. Although it's a restaurant in just about every sense of the word, because it's on wheels, some may view a food trailer as a fly-by-night operation. Please be assured that’s not the case with us. We lease our space, we pay local taxes and we have the very same requirements for permits and health department compliance as a brick & mortar restaurant does. After many decades of owning eating establishments in the Austin area, we thought it would be fitting to continue our passion for BBQ right here, in our own neighborhood. We are a part of the community and we plan to remain. The upside is that we own our little building on wheels and if need be, we can bring it all to your doorstep! At Chew Chew we view that as an added benefit to the people of Bee Cave.

Until further notice we will be closed on Sundays. We are looking toward opening Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm in the near future. Our website is always updated with our current hours. You can find us here, chewchewbbq.com

Again, we sincerely apologize and hope you’ll give us another try. If there is anything we can do to improve your experience with us please let us know. Your feedback is always welcome.

Really? Someone says they like something and you give it a thumbs down? I guess the days when you are free to like the food of your choice are over, at least in Bee Cave
