After one of this year's most severe weather events it appears two tornados may have touched down nearby - one near Spicewood and one near Lago Vista. The nearest confirmed tornado looks like one in Burnet County that moved one house 150 yards off its foundations - and the three people inside were uninjured.
Girl Scout Troop 468 from the Lake Hills Service Unit out of Bee Cave Elementary school under the leadership of Teresa Stephens recently made a $500 contribution to the Highland Lakes Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The girls also presented an assortment of hand made dog scarves which was a troop project. The proceeds from the troop cookie sales will facilitate the placement of dozens of dogs into permanent homes.

The August 27th City Council meeting did not reach a decision on the proposal to allow Council Members to attend meetings remotely. After a robust discussion Council deferred the item for further legal input on the requirements of new Texas State legislation on the subject.
Two vehicles collided Friday evening August 23rd leaving one person dead and three transported to Brackenridge Hospital, two by STARFlight. The accident at 9pm happened at the Pace Bend Road intersection in Spicewood and is under investigation by Travis County Sheriffs.
