LTISD issues with Yahoo e-mail accounts

The Lake Travis Independent School District and each of its campuses is currently experiencing difficulties with Yahoo email accounts. While some emails are sent, delivered and received as usual, many others are taking several days before delivery or before teachers and staff receive an auto- response message from Yahoo indicating that the email failed to be delivered.

New name and principal for Elementary #6

The new elementary school (#6) is going to be called - somewhat obviously - West Cypress Hills Elementary - and the new principal has been named as Julie Richards.

LTISD aces new "score card"

The new school and school district score cards are in:

 

The new system evaluates districts and individual schools is based on STAAR results. Schools can now simply achieve “Met Standard,” “Improvement Required” or “Not Rated.” Districts are graded on student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps and postsecondary readiness.

Schools lost $150,000 in state money

LTISD Deputy Superintendent Johnny Hill has reported that student absences during the last six weeks of the 2013 lost the district over $150,000 in state funding.

Jumbotron work starts - updated

Work starts this week on the contentious Jumbotron at Cavalier Stadium. LTISD has agreed to purchase the board for $450,000 and expects the advertising revenue generated to be about $140,000 per year. The board should be paid off in three years at which time all revenue goes to the school, but the entire risk is now borne by the School District. The Board will be operational for the August 30th game and is 17 feet high and 31 feet wide.
