A home on Graveyard Point Road in Lakeway was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning the 18th. Everyone escaped the building before it collapsed. There were water supply issues with the house (which was on stilts) that may have hindered fire fighting efforts.
Summary: Fire crews were dispatched to the 1500 Blk. of Graveyard Point Rd. for a reported structure fire. On arrival, fire crews found a single family home fully involved with fire. Three adult occupants were able to escape the fire without further incident after being woke by the home’s working smoke detectors/alarms. Fire crews were able to safely rescue a family dog. Because of the home’s proximity to Lake Travis, it was constructed on two story tall stilts which presented fire crews with safety issues early on in the incident. An additional 2,000 feet of large water supply hoses were required to provide water to fight the fire based on the home’s location from the nearest fire hydrant. No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are still pending. Travis County Fire Mashal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
