Janitor fired over false alarm
Amid increasing speculation that there never was a gunman on school property on December the 9th, LTISD has announced it is closing its inquiry and that the janitor involved has been terminated.
Said the official release:
"As you may recall, just prior to the holiday break, Lake Travis Independent School District officials notified you of their investigation into a school employee’s claim that she saw an alleged gunman on the Lake Travis Middle School campus, resulting in the lockdown of LTMS and Lake Travis High School on Dec. 9, 2011.
Upon extensive review of the incident, District officials have concluded that there exists no evidence to substantiate the claim. Furthermore, the individual has been dismissed from the District, effective today. As a result, the District’s investigation has been completed and is now closed. However, officials with the Travis County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate the incident.
Shortly after the lockdown incident, District and local law enforcement officials met to debrief our collective crisis response protocols and procedures. We identified various areas for improving our overall work plan—including the efficiency of our communication tools and processes."

Hopefully Travis sherrifs department will continue their investigation especially with the coming forward of this new witness.
