School gun alert a hoax?
LTISD has placed the custodian who raised the alarm last Friday about an armed man on LT Middle School premises on paid leave as no evidence is found to support her claim.
The Press Release states:
"District officials have received communication from the Travis County Sheriff's Office this morning that their investigation into Friday's lock down incident continues. At this time, the District does not have any information that validates the employee's report that an armed intruder was on the Lake Travis Middle School campus. As law enforcement officials indicated late Friday, our campuses are safe and there is no reason to believe that our students or staff are in danger.
The District is also conducting an investigation into the employee's claim. Pending the outcome of the investigation, the District has placed the employee on paid administrative leave.
Classes will continue as normal. However, rest assured campus and district administrators will continue to monitor, review and update security procedures as needed. District officials are working with the Travis County Sheriff's Office as well as the City of Bee Cave and City of Lakeway police departments to debrief our collective crisis response in an effort to improve protocols and procedures. Again, we thank our parents for their patience during this incident, and ultimately, for supporting us in our efforts to keep student safety our utmost priority."
