We Olive Grand Opening

We Olive - a new store in the HCG is already open but gearing up to it's grand opening next weekend.

 

The team from We Olive will celebrate the opening of their Austin location, the first outside of California, with a weekend of special events. The retail store and wine bar will host classes and meet and greets with top producers and experts in the olive oil industry, who will be traveling to Texas specifically for the Grand Opening. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in guided wine tastings from We Olive’s curated wine list as well as to sample complimentary product tastings and bites from the café.

Friday, July 18th

1 p.m. Ribbon Cutting with the Lake Travis Chamber of
Commerce

3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Grove 45 Meet and Greet
Nena Talcott and Bonnie Storm, growers and producers of Grove 45, an organically-farmed extra virgin olive oil grown in a remote region of the Napa Valley, will be on hand to answer questions about their award-winning EVOO. Guests will have the opportunity to chat with Talcott and Storm and taste the sought-after product.

Saturday, July 19

10 a.m. – Olive Oil Milling and Tasting Class with Astrid Jansen of Foxdale Farm and Louie Gonzalez of Rancho El Molino. Two major players in the olive oil game will join forces for a comprehensive class on Saturday. Astrid Jansen’s Foxdale Farm is a heralded olive oil miller in California’s central coast. She has worked with California growers to create award-winning extra virgin olive oils. She will discuss the process of extracting oil from the olive, as well as how to mill olives into quality oil.

Louie Gonzalez not only produces Rancho El Molino, a Gold Medal winner awarded by the California Olive Oil Council, he has been an olive oil taster for several taste panels for over 16 years and is an esteemed judge for many International    olive     oil competitions. Among his many projects, he currently is working on a website directory of the olive oil industry in California and the United States to assist and promote producers as well as help consumers better identify, select and taste olive oil. Gonzalez will be offering his expertise for a guided Introduction to Olive Oil Tasting class. Learn to evaluate olive oils by tasting different oils through aroma and flavor to determine what you like. Find out what makes good olive oil, how to store it, and how to best use what many foodies call "liquid gold.”

3 p.m. --  Rancho El Molino Demo and Tasting

Louie Gonzalez will be back for a tasting and demo of his Gold Medal-    winning Rancho El Molino, an extra virgin olive     oil blended from Northern    California-grown Arbequina and Ascolano olives.

5 pm. – Guided Wine Class
Learn how to taste and pair wines with a representative from Pioneer Wines. Guests will have the opportunity to sample offerings from We Olive & Wine Bar’s curated wine list, which includes a number of Texas and California wineries.

1 p.m. -- Class and Book Signing with Carol Firenze, author of                 

“The Passionate Olive: 101 Things to do with Olive Oil”
       
Noted author and educator Carol Firenze, will lead a class on 101 Things to do with Olive Oil, which will look at the countless uses for olive oil beyond cooking. Firenze will present how to use your Extra Virgin Olive Oil around La Casa (the house) to clean, polish, and preserve; in La Cucina (the kitchen) to drizzle, marinate, sauté, and bake; in Il Bagno (the bathroom) to beautify and treat your skin, hair, and hands; and, in La Camera da Letto (the bedroom) as she discusses uses for olive oils as old as civilization itself. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
