Hotel Tax to be run by Chamber?

Bee Cave City Council heard a presentation from Bee Cave Chamber and Steel Branding regarding promotion and branding in Bee Cave last week.

The presentation was given by Adrian Overstreet (owner of the Sonesta and founder of BC Chamber) and Steve Braasch (former councilman and President-elect of Chamber).

The Chamber will be putting in a formal submission asking the council to give the operation of the Hotel Occupancy Tax over to the Chamber (minus a certain amount by law allowed to go to the arts.)

Hotel Occupancy Tax (otherwise known as HOT) is regulated by the state and must be spent back in bringing tourism money to Bee Cave. The basic premise would be for Bee Cave to be positioned as "living the good life" and would highlight Hill Country living, accessibility to the wine country, Lake Travis, etc.

Reception was positive and the issue is expected to come up for a vote at Council within a few weeks.
