Councilwoman Michelle Bliss has announced she will join Kara King and stand again for City Council in the upcoming May election.

"I hope this note finds you well. It's hard to believe that two years has gone by already. I am announcing that I will be running for re-election to Bee Cave City Council. After almost two years under my belt and 5 years on planning and zoning, I still think there's a lot more I can contribute to our city.

Looking back over the past two years, there have been many council meetings that have gone into the wee hours of the morning, but we have worked well as a cohesive group and I have strived to represent the communities interests at a time when Bee Cave is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. I led the Anti-texting campaign last year, along with the Benevolent foundation and this had an immediate impact on safety. Response was great and I want to continue with this campaign. The council as a whole has made some progress on a connectivity plan. I put the Lakeway toll road on our agenda a few months back, that resulted in us passing a resolution against it. As a result of that, Mayor Murphy and myself met with TXDOT, Commissioner Gerald Daugherty and some City of Lakeway officials and have formed a committee that will team with TXDOT engineers to study traffic along the 620 corridor. These meetings should start in a month or so and last for about 12-18 months.

Where can we go the next two years?
As many of you know, traffic is a huge concern for us here in Bee Cave and the entire surrounding area. I very much want to make sure that we continue to work with TXDOT and other surrounding municipalities to come up with solutions. We are finally moving forward with the re-write of our Comprehensive Plan. I want to continue to support pedestrian connectivity, limit high density housing and encourage family friendly development.
