Following their success in this weekend's election, Tom Matzen and Marie Lowman gave us their thoughts and some insight on their intentions as new members of Bee Cave City Council, in response to this question: "how you expect your election to impact the City and the issues it faces in 2104(sic)?;

Marie Lowman said: "First and foremost I want to thank my opponent for running an honest and fair campaign.  I’d like to thank all the voters who shared their voice.  While I can’t predict what issues the city will face in 2104 (smiley face)  2014 will certainly present significant opportunities for council to further shape our future.  Our development pipeline is robust, we must carefully consider what is being proposed and render decisions based on what is best for the community as a whole, while using the guidelines as set forth in our city’s comprehensive plan.  Communication and engagement are critical to ensuring Bee Cave remains a premier place to live.  I want to reach as many residents as possible in an effort to best understand their wishes for our future.  Voter turnout was low this year, a personal goal of mine is to see polling numbers climb as our community becomes more engaged with shaping our future."

Tom Matzen stated - "I am honored and thankful with the outcome.  All of the candidates were worthy of serving and should be respected for taking the time and energy to run a campaign.  I expect to have an immediate impact on development issues and look forward to utilizing my legal background to look out for the best interests for Bee Cave and its residents."
