Area residents speaking on our Facebook group and in other places continue to report a rise in opportunistic thefts from cars in area parking lots - retail, gyms and others.

Thieves seem to be attracted by visible purses, cell phones or other valuables. Crowds in the parking area appear to be no deterent as the crimes are over in seconds. Residents are advised to take all valuables with them or conceal or lock them in their trunk - for even the shortest trips away from their vehicles.
