The Lakeway police officer who died commuting on Thursday morning died of injuries from his crash - the Travis County medical examiner’s office said this week. The death has been ruled as an accident. Doles, 47, was driving his Toyota Tundra south on 620. crossed into oncoming traffic, struck a pickup, hit a tree and Doles was thrown from the vehicle. He may have hit a pole and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other truck was turning north onto 620 from a private driveway when hit. Witnesses said Doles was traveling at a “high rate of speed”.
