City commits $1MM+ to burying cables

At its Jan 9th meeting, Bee Cave City Council voted to enter into a $1.325 million deal with Austin Energy to bury electrical cables on Bee Cave Parkway from Ladera to the City Park Entrance.

The initial plan was to use power pylons but local opposition drove the City's decision. Local developer Adrian Overstreet is contributing $150,000 to the total cost - estimated to be over $2MM.

The costs will be met either by an installment plan or by the City forgiving Austin Energy franchise fees, which run at over $300K per year.
