Ride for the Badge - Harvey centric

The Lakeway Police Department and Lakeway Police Foundation are hopping on their Harleys and hitting the Hill Country for the inaugural Ride for the Badge on Sept. 9.


Ride for the Badge is a scenic Hill Country motorcycle ride in honor and support of law enforcement.  In support of the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey, the Foundation will be donating their profits to the Texas Gulf Coast Law Enforcement and First Responders.

 

The event will begin at 8 a.m. at High 5 family entertainment center, 1502 RM 620 S., with coffee and breakfast tacos. Kickstands will go up at 10:30 a.m., and riders will travel about 170 miles to the Texas Rangers Heritage Center, 1618 E. Main St., in Fredericksburg before heading to Luckenbach for the after party.


Several Lakeway police officers and other Central Texas law enforcement are scheduled to ride.


“This will be an exciting ride through the Hill Country with some of our finest,” Lakeway Police Chief Todd Radford said. “This is an inaugural event, so we hope to see a lot of public participation. We look forward to this becoming an ongoing event.”


Celebrity riders scheduled to participate are:
•           Tony Schumacher, NHRA Top Fuel Drag Racer;
•           Senior, from the reality TV series “Full Throttle Saloon” in Sturgis;


Check-in and packet pick-up will begin at 8 a.m. at High 5. Lunch will be provided at the Texas Rangers Heritage Center.
Other event highlights include raffles, door prizes, ride patches and T-shirts for pre-registering.
