Sports Field funding set for 2021 at the earliest

Bee cave Council Member Monty Parker has posted some ineresting analysis of the timing and value of the $21MM of Travis County money earmarked for the Bee Creek Sports facility to be built on land purchsed by the City of Lakeway in 2017.

He quotes an article in the Satesman article (in the Statesman - "This part of the county has often been referred to by the court as rich and able to pay our own way, thus the proposed bond package is being focused mostly on the east side of the county. Granted, there is $21 million in the bond package for the Bee Creek Sports Complex, but upon closer examination you find that they are proposing it be funded in 2021, which means the project wouldn't be completed until at least 2023 or later.

In the meantime, another park in the "right" part of the county was thrown in at the last minute at $7.5 million and is proposed to be funded in 2018. This is yet another slap in the face for our part of the county in my opinion. I think it's time we send a strong message to the county. Our area produces a significant amount of property tax revenue, revenue that allows the county to take a Robin Hood approach in their spending."
