Spicewood Arts Society Hosts “Rockin’ the Vineyard” Feb. 18

SPICEWOOD, TX-The Spicewood Arts Society hosts its annual fundraiser benefiting arts in education, “Rockin’ the Vineyard,” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at Spicewood Vineyards. Featuring the music of Suede, the evening includes a catered dinner from Verde’s Mexican Parilla, auction, games and a giveaway.

The Spicewood Arts Society (SAS) has given away more than $55,000 since beginning the community arts education program, with over $40,000 awarded in scholarships and more than $14,000  given to area elementary schools for special presentations starring musicians and storytellers. This year SAS plans to award six scholarships to area high school seniors pursuing arts degrees and fund additional arts programs.

“As tuition rises every year, students need help from their community. We all have a stake in making sure our young people are launched toward a successful future,” said SAS president Debbie Starnes. She noted that donations for the scholarships and arts programs are accepted if people are unable to attend.

Tickets ($100 each) are available at www.spicewoodarts.org.  Tickets should be purchased by Feb. 12. After that date, call for availability. Spicewood Vineyards is at 1419 Co. Rd. 409, Spicewood.

In addition to the fundraiser, SAS produces five concerts a year at Spicewood Vineyards; the two-day fall Arts Roundup, an arts fair at La Cabana Mexican restaurant; and bus excursions to art venues in central Texas.
