New private school opens in N Lakeway

The International School of Texas, a new private, co-educational school located in the Lake Travis area near Hudson Bend, is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year for students from the age of 3 through 11, covering the span of Nursery through to Year 6, the equivalent of U.S. 5th Grade.

The school will utilize a highly-customized curriculum built on Brain-Friendly practices and supported by the standards of the English National Curriculum and the outward-looking, global philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation process for individualized, high-quality learning experiences in a secure, nurturing environment. The school will also adhere to a Positive Behavior Model encouraging strong moral values and the highest standards of behavior, discipline and personal responsibility in a non-faith based environment.

Headmistress Gráinne O’Reilly (formally of the Abercorn School) has more than 3 decades of experience in the education world, 20 of which have been at the headship level in the U.K., the U.S. and overseas. "We’re honored to bring a brand new, non-profit private school to this community, offering a customized, engaging learning environment for bright young children," said O’Reilly.

The school will also feature limited class sizes with experienced teachers, foreign language education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, swimming lessons and daily organic lunches, as well as after-school clubs hosted on school grounds including sports, art, dance, drama and more.

The International School of Texas is located at 4105 Eck Lane in Austin, Texas on an 8-acre campus with views of Lake Travis.
