This week's much anticipated opening of Louisiana style cafe Gumbo's in the Shops at the Galleria seems to have been a resounding success.

Judging by our own experience and that of several friends the restaurant is delivering good food and service in its first few days open and has seen good traffic. Located next to Best Buy and overlooking the "lake" the parking area has been busy but nor completely full so far.

Owner Francine Quigley said when we spoke with her on Friday the 16th - "Gumbo’s is excited to be a part of the Lake Travis Community. We have experienced success during our first week and we look forward to future success by providing exceptional customer service and great food."

  • BeeCaver  - Gumbo's - great
A great mid priced addition to the Bee Cave dining scene. Been twice, both times busy but service good and food amazing. Recommend the Caprese Salad, the Catfish, the Pork and the Bread Pudding or custards for dessert.

I feel like we've been waiting out here foreverfor a great seafood place. Gumbo's simple but sophisticated treatments don't overwhelm the freshness of the ingredients. We've been twice (and of course had gumbo); everything was great, but I would say the coolest thing is their setting. You can sit out on the shaded, breezy balcony and watch the ducks and a great blue heron fishing in the "lake."

We went to Gumbos and it was great. I do have a fear that the restaurant is too hidden. Because the rear of the restaurant faces the main road thru the Shops at the Galleria, you can easily miss that this is a restaurant. They really need to put some large signage near the road or even on the back of the restaurant, and do it before it is too late.
