Galleria to be pressured in Covert fight?
Covert "resistance" group members in their Facebook group (HERE - closed group, requires joining) are raising questions about the deal that features Covert vehicles on display at the Galleria.
Adrian Overstreet, the manager of the Galleria Ownership Group, informs us that the cars are at the mall on a contract which was entered into long before the current dealership location dispute arose and which the Galleria does not have the right to cancel

If they don't need the sidewalk space, why can't anyone park there? I ask this facetiously. Anyway, it's funny how I didn't use to mind those cars there. I will though once Covert builds a dealership in Bee Cave.

The bad faith, in my eyes, is that Covert is making a lot of people mad, and it's making the Galleria look bad by supporting them, and it's probably in the Galleria's best interests to end the contract.
By the way, I'm not sure I like that you are using quotes from a "closed" group. It's closed as it's private to only people within the group expressing opinions and ideas.

2013-02-05 16:48:19 | liz - Agree with DonnaThere is always a way to cancel a contract. Depends on if Galleria wants to protect the businesses they are responsible to as a Landlord/Mall Management. If people are angry enough about the Covert dealership then there will be some fall off to show Galleria that we're not happy with their decisions. Unfortunately, many struggling small business will suffer due to decisions made my the owner of Galleria/Mall Management. More lawsuits in the horizon? I'm not sure I like it being put out there that there is a closed group and then quotes, even though they are not attributed. It's private and we are to be able to say what we want to say without fear of it being seen or heard or read somewhere else.

Use common sense and please accept the inherent risks associated with putting something/anything "out there" on the internet.

2013-02-10 00:13:42 | Carl - Help stop Covert now!I hope everyone does everything in their power to stop Covert from turning 71 in Bee Cave into the next "Motor Mile". Covert already has plans for 2 dealerships on that location which means it will only be a matter of time before others follow suit.
Let the Covert's know that they should have heeded the City Council's original position that we don't want them here. It will make 71 even more dangerous, create more traffic, destroy our scenic area, and generate noise and light pollution for the residences nearby.
Where else have you ever seen car dealerships next to a neighborhood? Take the Covert label off your car, quit getting serviced or buying from them or at least tell the dealership the next time you are ther for service that you really don't want to build in Bee Cave.

2013-02-23 12:40:31 | Kasper - signsThe cars may end up staying, but is there any way to put a message on the cars telling about Covert. Of course, approved messages only... not just everyone littering the car... but it may work as a good billboard for 'No Covert'. The Galleria wins with not moving the cars and the No Covert group gets great advertisement. Just a thought.
