Springhill to close
Iconic Bee Cave restaurant Springhill is set to close within the next 60 days as construction finally gets under way on the IBS Bank led mixed retail development already permitted for that corner.

2013-01-19 10:12:06 | David B. - Sad to see it goIconic is a good word to describe Springhill. We've been eating here since we moved to Lakeway in 1989. In fact. we just ate their last Sunday. I have countless memories of playing "I spy" with my 3 kids (2 in college and 1 a senior at LTHS) with all the objects in the restaurant. I think I have the place memorized. The advertising on the tables was usually a topic a conversation with Kimberly Wimberly and Mr. Cable, the dish satellite installer, being a couple of highlights. The friendly family atmosphere was an escape from the hustle and bustle of the ever growing area. Our favorites are the catfish (of course), shrimp (best in the area IMHO), hushpuppies, and the Spinghill salad with fried chicken. Yum! No other restaurant in the Lake Travis area comes close to offering that special combination (some may point to Boathouse Grill). I'm really sad to see it go. I guess the old proverb is true... All good things must come to an end.

2013-01-20 23:21:15 | CashedOut - - Don't Feel Bad...Springhill owners clearly chose this path. They simply got an offer they couldn't refuse and took the cash and ran. I look at this as a windfall for a deserving small business owner who earned the chance to cash out. The area had outgrown the restaurant and that hard corner needed to be wiped out and redeveloped. Good for them... Now please take out that ugly jack brown cleaners.

2013-01-26 19:37:42 | CML - Nope. The owners of Springhill DO NOT own the property. They have always rented there. They had a long lease, but the property was sold a couple of years ago. Carol knew the end was near, and being in his 70's, he is OK with the situation. I, for one, am sorry to see it go.
