A story on local web site Joy's List suggests that previous issues with aggressive door-to-door salepeople are coming to our area again.

This from the BeeCaveBee on Facebook Page:

"Assault in Cardinal Hills
Wanted to let Lakeway know of a group of women and men that are going door to door selling knives and magazines for youth soccer club. There was an assault today in Cardinal Hills (behind Brake Specialist) between 2-4pm where a man grabbed a woman and pulled her out of the house and assaulted her - then he proceeded to the next house like nothing happened. Travis County was called but have not found him at this time.

Young (in early 20's) white male with short blonde hair - about 5'8" to 5'10" weighs about 150-175lbs. Please keep your doors locked, garages shut and children out of the front yard. They are looking for women who are home alone."

Last year and in previous years, sales folks from out of state hit our area - traveling in white vans, getting dropped off in local neighborhoods, sleeping many to a hotel room, selling magazine subs, getting very aggressive, lying about living in neighborhoods. Sound familiar? - don't answer doors, get plate # of vans, photograph callers from within and call police.

FYI.......the City of Bee Cave has an ordinance Article 14.04 - Peddlers and Solicitation. Anyone soliciting within the City of Bee Cave needs to have a permit which can be obtained through the City of Bee Cave Police Department. Soliciting without a permit is a violation of this ordinance and could result in a citation. The Bee Cave Police Department will enforce this ordinance.

He fits that description and after me telling him three times I wasn't interested he finally left. He was visibly angry and aggitated. I thought to myself "that was strange". I live in Cardinal Hills.

For those of us who do not reside in the City of BCave, PLS. call the Travis County law and inform them of their presence in/around your area/neighborhood when seen/heard of in your area. Our law officials need to be informed of where these 'stalker/cheaters' are next. I only wish the local laws enforcers would keep us all informed on where this type of 'shyster', crime, etc. is. As a concerned person in this area, it would help to be able to 'watch' for this person in everyone's back yard/side yard/down the street.

I just had someone knock on my door selling magazines on north outskirts of Lakeway saying he was practicing public speaking, earning a trip to London and that it was in support of the wounded warriors program by selling magazine subscriptions for delivery to the troops. He did not fit description of attacker.

A neighbor called the county sheriff on this guy. He is getting finger printed and checked out. 2 officers arrived. Thanks for the support!
  • Sharon Campbell  - Magazine sales people were just at our door...
We had two magazine young people at our door at 6:00 PM this evening. I did not read this article until after they left. My husband answered the door and we turned them down. I had told my husband that I saw a headline on BeeCaveBee.com. Thanks for this article.
