Field of Dreams giving way to multi family nightmare?
The "Field of Dreams," the local name for the Lake Travis Youth Association's sports complex south of Highway 71 just west of the Galleria, is now officially on the market.
Some of the rumored large number of potential buyers have expressed interest in developing the 19.5 acres into multifamily housing. Bee Cave City officials are believed to be pushing for single-family homes instead. The association is reported to be selling the land to buy a larger site to accommodate its growing numbers.

2012-11-13 14:50:50 | RJF - WaterThe Field of Dreams facility has difficulty maintaining grass on the fields due to extreme overuse. The field space isn't nearly what it needs to be for the number of players, hence the proposed sale and move to a larger facility. There are also water issues at the current location that should be resolved with the move. And just for the record, I spend at least 3 days a week at FOD and have never experienced a fire ant problem.

2012-11-23 17:23:30 | CJ - 1800's CARL BECK CEMETERY in FOD ~ ~ ~The FOD has been 'for sale' for years ~ now is the perfect time to sale w/the commercial monies paying high payments, especially in the Bee Cave areas.
My concern, among many other people, will the Carl Beck Cemetery be 'honored'/kept up when the FOD properties are sold?? The almost forgotten Carl Beck Cemetery has recently been renovated, cleared of dense/deep vines/weeds/ cedars/etc. by William M. Grumbles, as a a Troop #441, Boy Scout Eagle Project. With new fence posts where needed, a new walkway, 2 new signs donated and being placed over the new gate, will all the hard work on the old historical Carl Beck Cemetery be kept up and/or will the 'new owners' bulldoze the land of the FOD?
We would hope a buyer, developer, realtor would heed an 1800's historical cemetery of some of the oldest ancestors of Bee Cave, TEXAS, and preserve the history within.

Soccer fields are supposed to have grass and be well maintained unless using astro turf. Very dissapointed with poor quality of fields being that its in an affluent community. Lake Travis Youth Association states most of the money from athletics goes to field maintenance. Curious to know where the money went since fields looked like a ghetto.
