LT Fire & Rescue clears budget
As LT Fire and Rescue approves a maxed out 10 cents per $100 tax rate, that will raise just over $10 million, their problems are not over.
The good news is that the budget will get the manning levels at all local Fire Department stations up to 4 per shift - the minimum safe number recommended for entering structures on fire.
The bad news is that there is little current or planned cover for the ever increasing property volume being constructed west of Bee Cave, leaving the Department vulnerable in the case of multiple incidents.
Plans continue to merge with Austin Fire Department as a way to increase income and capacity, particularly as Austin plans to annex significant parts of LTFR's tax base beginning with Steiner Ranch in 2017.
