Rehab Center threat to Lakeway school thwarted
Lakeway City Manager Steve Jones announced today that the City of Lakeway will not issue a building permit for Recovery Ways, an addiction rehabilitation facility proposed to be built on Lohmans Crossing Drive in Lakeway.
After further review of the proposed project, city staff determined that such projects are not allowed uses in the C-1 (Office/Retail) zoning district, the current zoning for the property where the project is proposed.
The site development permit previously issued for the project will be rescinded and the company will be advised to cease construction under that permit.
This action was in response to growing criticism of the permit being granted for a building right next to Lakeway Elementary School.

2012-02-20 21:22:40 | MK - It's not over yet...The latest news is that they are looking to build the drug rehab center by the new hospital. That's right outside the neighborhood of Flintrock Falls, hopefully some of my neighbors here will read this. I'm concerned about this center being anywhere in Lakeway, really. I think we should keep fighting this.

You know what *I* think shouldn't be in Lakeway and especially near an elementary school?
The Emmaus Catholic church. Now, I'm not saying that anyone there is a child molester. But typically, a certain amount of donation money is sent to the "head office". If that's the case, anyone who donates money is directly contributing to child molestation, through giving funds to be used for hush money and bribes, which has been proven the Vatican has done.
But this comment will probably not even be approved and if it is, highly downvoted. I suppose the truth hurts.
