Coming events at Bee Cave Public Library
These updates from our friend Barbara Hathaway at Bee Cave library.
- Mark your calendars for February 23rd for the 2012 Lake Travis Reads author event featuring international and New York Times best-selling author Jeff Abbott. Lake Travis Reads is the annual “One Book, One Community” program co-sponsored by the libraries of Bee Cave, Lake Travis, and Spicewood that aims at bringing the community together over a love of reading. Abbott’s book signing takes place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 23 at Bee Cave City Hall. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.laketravisreads.org, or call any of the three libraries.
- Two annual events for children and families are also on the horizon. The annual “Bee’s Birthday Celebration” will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th in the community room above the library. Stories with Ms. Laurie will be followed by a craft and birthday cake for The Bee, the much-loved puppet mascot of storytime. The event is free and aimed at families with children ages 2-7. This year’s theme is Western, so children are invited to dress as a cowboy or cowgirl for the festivities.
- Also in the planning stages is the library’s 7th annual celebration of the birthday of beloved children’s author Theodore Geisel, better known to all as Dr. Seuss. This year’s “Seuss on the Loose” takes place Saturday, March 3rd from 2-4 p.m. and features stories, crafts, games, and a concert by the award-winning children’s entertainer Joe McDermott, all designed to focus families on the fun of words and reading.
