Medical Center development out of control?
Last week's Lakeway City Council meeting deliberated over the massive amount of potential development proposed on the almost 100 acre site around the new LRMC complex on 620.
The development covers a total of more than ten times as much land as the hospital itself and has multiple elements including:
- up to 160,000 sq ft of medial office space
- a hotel
- multifamily housing
- over 78,000 square feet of retail space
- two restaurant
- an assisted living center
- senior housing
Objections, led by Councilman Joe Bain, include concerns over the building of more apartments (which the City has previously opposed as a general rule) and a study that shows an extra 30,000 daily traffic trips being added to 620. This volume is almost double its 2009 traffic levels - the last time it was studied.

Enough with the shenanigans, stick to medical care. We did not sign up for the congestion and chaos that will be associated with the additional businesses and housing. The obviously have no regard for those that live in or have to travel through the Lakeway area.
Prepare yourself for Planet K number 2.
