Spicewood's "territorial dispute"

A huge row has made it onto local TV over an attempt by residents of an area west of us called Spicewood Canyon to incorporate - claiming threatened annexation by either Lakeway or Bee Cave.

A proposition on the Travis County would create the Village of Spicewood Canyon complete with mayor and council members.

Things are complicated by the fact that some of the 370 residents had never heard of the idea until this week and both Lakeway and Bee Cave are denying any plans to annext the area.

A meeting at Angel's this week did not seem to clarify the issues.

Hate to rain on the frenzy, but I doubt anyone is drooling over Spicewood Canyon. Bee Cave cannot annex anyone without their permission, and any land to be annexed must abut territory already in Bee Cave. Since Bee Cave thrives on sales tax with next to no property tax, what would be the motivation to even consider Spicewood? With Planet K set to open soon, we got all the "Spicewood" we need !
Watch out for Lakeway.
