The debate over the type of home and lot sizes to be built on the Masonwood development opposite Falconhead West on 71 West continues.

As the developer outlined its plans for the ETJ to Bee Cave City Council this week, they ran into local and City opposition to the switch from multi family to single family homes on 50 ft lots. Council delayed a decision to its next meeint on November 13th.

Many thanks to Bee Cave City Councilman Bill Goodwin for speaking out last week against the Masonwood developers for trying to push through one of the most dense developments in the Bee Cave community. I believe Bill spoke for many of us. The council has options and leverage and we don't have to give Bee Cave away to anyone who asks. Thank you Bill.

This post is confusing. Wouldn't you be happy for "the switch from multi-family to single family homes"? That would be less dense. Why would there be opposition? Maybe it was a typo.

No typo and no I wouldn't be happier and neither should the Bee Cave community.
The initial plat has unfortunately already been approved. But now Masonwood wants to trade... dump their H71 multi family and add 47 acres of 50' wide lots. That is simply their 'ask'. It doesn't mean the Bee Cave City Council has to say ok. Now the city council has the opportunity to reconsider and negotiate what they will accept for the future expansion of this project. I suggest they reflect on what the Bee Cave Comprehensive plan envisions for our community, something closer to 1/2 acre lots NOT 50'wide urban sized lots.
In order to get their MUD approved by TCEQ, Masonwood needs approval from the Bee Cave City council for this Revised Concept Plan... Bee Cave has leverage. Stand up Bee Cave and demand better.
