Planet K opens - on Trading Post porch

This press release just reached us from the Aus Pro/ Planet K Team:
"Planet K is happy to announce that, just in time for Christmas, our Trading Post location is open. We take this action because Christmas comes only once a year and meanwhile the City of Bee Cave has stalled the property owner for over 6 months on a simple remodel permit concerning the necessary finish out for the store. In the interest of both serving our Bee Cave, Lakeway, Hamilton Pool Road and Spicewood customers and demonstrating to the City of Bee Cave that everything we sell will abide by their rules, we are opening our booth on the outside porch of our store.
We believe our disputes with the City of Bee Cave, having already cost the city’s taxpayers over $100,000, is a tempest in a teapot and we will demonstrate that everything we sell at this location is legal under all appropriate laws, both within the City of Bee Cave and the State of Texas.
We hope that our opening will reassure the City of Bee Cave, our neighbors and our customers that we are not a threat to the peace and prosperity of Bee Cave. We are a simple giftshop with a different slant on the culture of shopping. We would prefer to be inside of course, but we will maintain our booth outside from 10am to 10pm everyday until the city allows the property owner to finish out this location.
We encourage all residents of Bee Cave and the surrounding areas to visit us and make up their own minds; see if what we are selling and who we are is worth the $100,000 the city has spent so far (to lose in court twice, with conceivably a lot more expense to come) trying to prevent us from selling our cigarettes, tobacco pipes and bachelor/bachelorette party favors! We explained early on that we will defend our right to conduct free enterprise, we will not give up and we will not go away!
Planet K @ the Trading Post is open for business, everyone is welcome to come shop!"
Planet K plans to operate 10 am to 10 pm.

2011-12-25 13:57:35 | Andy - Awesome Sight!!!Nice to have driven by and seeing the stand open -- three cheers for Planet K exercising their right to sell legal products in a free society!!! So ironic too that most of the opponents to Planet K are likely die-hard Republicans who would so like to have government out of everything and let the market dictate the economy. Well how about letting Planet K live or die by that same principle, get the government (your city council full of NIMBYs) out of it and let them conduct business like everyone else is allowed to. I'd suggest the products sold at Twin Liquors and Specs contribute to more problems than those sold at Planet K.

2011-12-27 09:29:52 | Barry Johnson - Good Luck Planet KThe Bee Cave city council has no right to impose their personal opinion about things that can be sold that are legal items. This is just another form of prejudice. I personally will probably not buy much of your product but you have the right to sell your items as you wish. Maybe I will change my mind once I stop by and browse.

Just read the police department has a Chaplain but, still no internal affairs bureau or police monitor. Hope Chaplain prays for them.

2011-12-31 12:16:40 | Anonymous - Planet KQuestion the motives of a business like this setting itself up in a family oriented community.
Very thankful for the city to protect it's citizens and it's children no matter what the financial cost .

2012-01-09 14:07:36 | Anonymous - Reply to AnnIf you look to the city government to protect your children you are in trouble and Question your parenting skills. Let's close all the clubs and bars on 6th St. So nobody can drink or dance. The dancing these kids do today is pure evil!
Dancing and drinking should be abolished. Cell phones should be banned too for fear of your child texting while driving. Families should teach their children values and morals at home. Do not let government dictate it to them.
The German government wanted to protect themselves from the evil Jews so they threw them in the gas chambers and it cost millions of lives.
I'm thankful not everyone thinks like you.

2012-01-09 14:23:56 | W.S.Brilliant thinking, let's get rid of choices because all that matters is what you want. You are more of a danger than harmless planet k.
Let's close all liquor stores in town cause they sell Devil Water.

2012-01-09 14:42:53 | Get over itNobody is forcing you to buy from them. The business is not sponsored with city money. Get over it and go back to your cave. Make sure you close the rock behind you.
If you want to fight them use your own money and not taxpayers.
Nobody will stop you.

Choices choices! Nothing like making it easier for us parents!! Thank you!
With sincere sarcasm,
Teresa
